The Auto Expo 2018 is just a few days away and almost all the automobile companies across the world are preparing themselves hard to make a significant impact at the biggest motor show in India. Even the luxury automakers like BMW are gearing up to showcase their upcoming projects with some flashy concepts. Here is the full list of cars that are expected to make an appearance from the German car maker at the biennial event.
A few days back, BMW India confirmed that the company will soon launch the much awaited electric hatchback in India. And now the sources say that it will happen at the 2018 Auto Expo. BMW i3 will be the first product to be launched in the domestic market after i8, which was launched way back in 2005. BMW i3 is expected to be powered by a 94Ah motor that develops a power of 170 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The electric hatchback is capable enough to travel 180 km on a single charge. Expect the price to be around Rs. 1 crore.
BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is finally coming to India for the launch at the Auto Expo after grabbing much of attention at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The car will be the company’s second GT product in the domestic market and will be placed between the 5-series and the 7-series. Although there is no such confirmation about the engine specs, the car is likely to be powered by a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel motor that is capable of producing a maximum power of 265 bhp against a peak torque of 620 Nm. Expect the price to be in the range of Rs. 60-70 lakh.
Although the all-new BMW X3 was unveiled last year in the international market, the car is expected to be showcased at the biggest ‘Motor Mela’ in India. Speculations are that the new car will share some of its design and engine specs with the outgoing model. It could come with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine and will be priced at Rs 49-54 lakh. With the launch, it is likely to compete against the likes of Volvo XC60, Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
The German automaker is expected to launch the new M5 at the 2018 Auto Expo. This is also the first time when a BMW product gets an all-wheel-drive setup in the sedan segment. With the launch, the car is likely to replace the ongoing sports sedan that was launched in 2014. BMW M5 will be powered by a powerful 4.4-litre, bi-turbo, v8 petrol engine that is capable enough to produce a maximum power of 600 bhp and a peak torque of 750 Nm. The price tag is expected to be around Rs 1.5 crore.
BMW i8 Roadster
According to the sources, the German carmaker is planning to bring the i8 Roadster in India. It is a hybrid car, which is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a 34Ah electric motor. The combination is capable enough to produce a maximum power of 274 bhp and 670 Nm of torque. The car is expected to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018.
